HMEI is accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE), which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for establishing standards for Montessori teacher education programs. 

HMEI is affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS), the foremost authority on Montessori education, worldwide. The AMS establishes quality standards and provides professional support for Montessori teachers and Montessori schools around the globe. 

 HMEI is certified by the State of Missouri Board of Higher Education.
